Our location and methodology are designed to give Kindergarten and 1st Grade students enrolled in our classes the very best in exposure based learning.

Following a European school calendar, Citrus Grove Farm operates in 6-week sessions. Courses are offered on a per session basis according to the following calendar:
- Fall Part I August 16 - September 24, 2021
- Fall Part II October 11 - November 19, 2021
- Winter January 3 - February 11, 2022
- Spring Part 1 February 28 - April 8, 2022
- Spring Part II April 25 - June 3, 2022
We are located in the heart of agriculture on the border of Somis and Moorpark, California. Following methodology pioneered by Reggio Emilia, we see the outdoors not only as a classroom but as a teacher as well. We offer classes in the following areas:
Gardening and Regenerative Agriculture Fridays 12:00 - 1:00
"What can a children's garden bloom into? What can it become when science, observation, wonder, and thoughtfulness are practiced? It will be an ecosystem, a science lab, and a place of discovery." In this course we use our community garden to develop our students' foundational understanding of permaculture and the ideas of "Care for Self, Care for Others, and Care for the Land."
Early American History and Literature Mondays 10:00 - 11:00
Taught by a passionate expert in American History, our course uses the power of story to inspire our students and develop their understanding of early American history from the first Indigenous people of the Americas to the establishment of the United States.
Music History and Solfa Singing Fridays 10:00 - 11:00
Taught by a member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, our music course offering focuses on the development of the student's instrument through the practice of Solfa singing. Students will also be exposed to the work and life stories of great composers throughout history.
Art History and Technique (watercolor emphasis) Mondays 12:00 - 1:00
In this course we emphasize the practice of teaching students how to document their nature observations through watercolor. Students will also be exposed to the work and life stories of great artists throughout history.
Science and Nature Studies Wednesdays 10:00 - 11:00
Using My Father's Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannet as a guide, science will come to life with with the study of living creatures and botanical field studies.
Cost is $150 per course, per session. Discount available for enrollment in multiple course offerings. Cost includes all supplies needed for the course offering.
Citrus Grove Farm is in process to become an approved charter vendor for Blue Ridge Academy, Golden Valley Charter School, and Sage Oak Charter School.
